Eden Park brings home awards

The Eden Park Trust is delighted to acknowledge our award winners from last night’s Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) industry event in Hamilton. This year marks the fourth anniversary of the prestigious awards, bringing together businesses and individuals from across the event industry.

With a membership of 97 venues including 46 theatres, 32 event centres, 11 outdoor stadia and eight convention centres, EVANZ is the professional organisation which represents the venue industry in New Zealand.  

Two of Eden Park’s team members were recognised in their respective fields by being named as finalists: Event manager Chynna Phelan as the Priava Rising Star of the Year and turf manager Blair Christiansen as the Simpson Grierson Operational Manager of the Year.

Eden Park is proud to have won the following awards:

HPA Excellence in Host Responsibility Award which recognises the stadium’s impressive Host Responsibility Policy and Alcohol Management Plan.

Eighteen free water stations around the concourse are all clearly marked with signage and messaging supporting the ‘Say Yeah, Nah’ campaign, supported by HPA.  There are also soft drinks and bottled water available in all retail concessions, including in the fridges immediately next to alcohol products. A low-alcohol 2.5% beer is available in all bars.

Eden Park CEO Guy Ngata says, “At Eden Park, we see our role in the industry as being leaders and innovators in venue management and compliance. As such, we treat our delivery of host responsibility at the highest level of importance. Our driving outcome is to be seen in Auckland and New Zealand as leaders of alcohol management within the industry.”

Priava Rising Star of the Year Award: Chynna Phelan

Chynna’s mature and professional approach saw her win this award, an incredible achievement at such an early stage in her career.

“Chynna has quickly learnt how important the planning stages of an event are and has a great eye for detail which is extremely valuable. She communicates with the client in a clear and timely manner which empowers a positive relationship that enables the planning of the event to be smooth and efficient,” says Ngata.
